World Hepatitis Day is held annually on July 28 (equivalent to 6 Mordad) to raise public awareness about hepatitis diseases and to promote global action for their prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
This day is named after the birthday of Dr. Baruch Blumberg, the discoverer of the Hepatitis B virus and the developer of its vaccine.
2025 Slogon: “Hepatitis: Let’s Break the Silence”
- This year’s theme focuses on breaking barriers to treatment, diagnosis, and prevention — including stigma and misinformation, high treatment costs, and limited access to medical services in underserved areas.
- Preventive measures include vaccination for types A and B, maintaining personal and medical hygiene, using sterile equipment in medical and cosmetic centers, practicing safe sex, and conducting screening and testing for high-risk individuals.
Everyone can play an effective role in the global elimination of hepatitis by undergoing regular testing, promoting vaccination, reducing stigma, and spreading accurate information — all to help achieve hepatitis elimination by 2030.
